Educational philosophy or approach: At Island Adventures we teach good morals and values in all children; respect all children and their families’ cultures, ethnicities, race, beliefs, and structure; treat each child fairly to ensure that all children feel equally special; have families, communities, and educators work as one. We believe that teaching successful advancement in education and social emotions skills is the best outcomes for our children. Our program is to provide children with a safe, loving, environment where they can succeed. Our program’s purpose is to encourage all children to learn and grow by providing them with a foundation of developmentally appropriate experience where all children can succeed. Our goal is to meet the needs of each family by offering dependable, reliable and well-trained employees that best meet each child's needs. Our program practice is to adhere to our philosophy by using the Creative Curriculum so that children can learn as they develop. It serves as a road map to help children succeed at their own pace. Through daily activities, routines and experiences children are given the opportunity to learn. During preschool we have group activities and individual times for each child to advance and grow at their own pace. Parents are a great asset to help children succeed. Our teachers share with each family what the children are learning and ask the parents to participate in their child's learning whenever possible. Partnerships with parents are important, we have activities that families are involved with, for example we have a summer BBQ, and a formal graduation/celebration. My teachers and I attend ongoing professional development to keep our classroom as exciting as we can. An example of a training we recently took was I am Moving I am Learning. Teaching the teachers more movement for children is important. We are all learning each and every day with the children. When I hire new staff I make sure they know what our philosophy for our program is and that they have a passion for working with children. All our staff adhere to the NAEYC professional code of conduct.
