
Find a large scarf and a few items around the house. Put all items on a table and cover
them with the scarf. Lift the scarf to show the items to your child and then cover the items
up again. Tell your child to cover their eyes while you remove one of the items with the
scarf still covering all of them. Have your child lift off the scarf and try to guess, “What’s
missing?” For younger children you can do this with two or three items and increase the
number of items as children grow older. This activity reinforces object permanence and
